Geocache Description:

This cache is a 0.3L lok ‘n’ lok box containing a log book, pencil and a few small goodies. The coordinates above are not for the cache.

This puzzle is part of our “Back to Basics” range of caches for kids big and small. So, assuming you’re wearing your lucky blue underwear, let’s get started.

Do you remember going on holiday as a kid and sometimes it rained? Do you also remember your mum and dad buying you a book of puzzles to stop you mithering? In those books of puzzles were Spot the Difference puzzles. You know the sort of thing, two pictures with subtle differences between them. Well, that’s what we’ve got for you here. There are six pairs of pictures with a number of differences between the two pictures in each pair. The number of differences are labelled A – F, which are used to give the coordinates of the cache.

A= Differences

B = Differences

C = Differences

D = Differences

E = Differences

F = Differences

The cache is at N54 02.(E-C)(A+F)D W001 38.(B-1)(A+B)(F).

When we first set up this puzzle we thought it should be easy enough to solve. But then we had another think. When you were in the shelter on the sea front solving these puzzles in the rain you had a distinct advantage – you knew how many differences you were looking for. Here you don’t know. There could be any number 0 and 9. You could get paranoid looking for things that might not be there, a bit like the Gene Hackman character in the 1974 film The Conversation. Hackman plays a man who plants bugs in people’s apartments, but gets it into his head that his own apartment is bugged. In the closing scene of the film Hackman has ripped out all the walls, floor and ceiling of his apartment and still can’t find the bug. Sleep well….
