The Cumberland sausage originated in the ancient county of Cumberland, England, now part of Cumbria. They are traditionally very long, up to 21 inches (50 cm), and sold rolled in a flat, circular coil, or long curved lengths. The meat is pork, and seasonings are prepared from a variety of spices and herbs. The distinctive feature is that the meat is chopped, not minced, giving the sausage a chunky, meaty texture. In March 2011, the "Traditional Cumberland sausage" was granted Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status.
Given the popularity of people who like wandering around secluded areas of countryside looking for sausages, the Banger Brothers decided to partake in some late-evening hide-the-sausage sessions for your enjoyment.
At each location in the series you're looking for a concealed sausage. They may be hanging low, wedged into a tight crevice, protected by an outer layer or hidden in a bush.
Bring your tweezers and a pen.
Please replace each as found in an attempt to maintain cleanliness, minimise moisture levels and ensure enjoyment for everyone.
Caches placed with kind permission of the Marbury Country Park rangers.
