Only a few miles southwest of Carrington, ND is a butte 300 feet higher than the surrounding plains where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the prairie and farm land. Hawksnest Ridge is the highest point in a short ridge of glacial hills. It is an ancient and sacred place that was much reverenced by the Indians and was a prominent land mark and camping place for them when traveling. Today you can hike through the rugged 100-acre nature park and native grass located at the site.
Geocache container is regular size container full of treasures. Access is seasonal due to snow or mud. Pickup or SUV is preferred as the access road is a prairie trail.
The journey to the cache will include a beautiful hike from the parking area at the edge of the trees.
