The railway lines through Norbury opened in 1862 as a short cut to Brighton, avoiding Crystal Palace and Norwood Junction. However, it didn't have a station until 1878. The train station was built with slopes as racehorses were travelled to the local Streatham Races by train. The racing finished in 1879 after racing was banned within 10 miles of London. The station still has its slopes today. The cache is a small disguised container and stealth will be needed as it can be very busy here. Although mostly, people are busy going about their business and wouldn't notice if you were in fancy dress! It is a flat path to it and if in a wheelchair and able to reach up it may be possible. Funnily enough it's best to get this cache using public transport, buses run regularly past here too. But if you're not a fan of public transport then parking can be difficult and mostly paid for unless you park further up into Norbury near some other caches and walk down.
