Geocache Description:

Ohiwa Beach is commonly known as Bryan's Beach and is a quiet spot just off the main highway. Usually you will have the beach to yourself, or maybe be sharing with a couple of locals. Stunning pohutukawa trees are a feature of this special spot where the Bryan family first made their mark on the area.

John Bryan arrived in the area in 1950 and purchased a farm adjacent to Ohiwa Beach in1953. In time sold of the beachside properties and moved up onto the hill where they established one of the first kiwifruit orchards in the area in 1967. This orchard is still operated by one of his sons and the beach is regularly enjoyed by his family, local residents and many visitors.

So come and enjoy this quite little beach and locate the cache while you are there. The cache is hidden at the base of a Pohutukawa tree, covered with sticks. Please recover well when you hide the cache.
