Geocache Description:

"The Big Kahuna" is the largest island on Lake Webster.

It is better known to the locals as Kline Island honoring the last family to inhabit the island back near the turn of the 19th century.

This cache is accessible only by water.

Initial approach to the location is best made from the south east end of the island. At the end of the rock seawall barrier you will find a small landing area for a single boat. This location is not the only viable approach to the island just the suggested spot given the cache location. If approaching from the northern beach be aware the trails on the island do not clearly extend to that end of the island and you are best to walk the shoreline (in the water) from the north beach around to the east to find a foot trail that extends to the waters edge that you can use to approach ground zero.

.

The owners of this cache have a canoe located on the lake near the cache. You may use this canoe to paddle out to the cache if you like. They also have an area available to launch your own kayak or canoe and park your car while on your adventure.   Please contact them via a geocaching.com message or text 317-690-1390 to see if they are available.

About the island: The town of North Webster shoots off fireworks from this island every fourth of July weekend from the grassy clearing on the south end of the island. For the rest of the summer the north end of the island is a popular weekend hangout with locals who beach their boats on the shore and enjoy swimming and wading with the shallow sandy bottom found there.

The terrain for this find is a 5 only due to the necessity of watercraft to reach the island. The island is reachable via foot when the lake is frozen over in the winter. USE CAUTION if attempting to access the island when the lake is frozen. If you are unfamiliar with frozen lakes do not attempt to make the crossing.

In keeping with our tradition to recognize outstanding caches, the owners are leaving behind in the cache for the first to find...... One Million Dollars (of the type purchased at the local dollar general store for a buck)  AND  a "First to Find" trackable geocoin named in the finders honor (TB7H7DF). (Chesty Puller was our FTF on November 5th 2016! That's right NOVEMBER! True troopers and cachers extraordinaire.)

BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE......

For those of you who always seem to show up a day late and a dollar (or million) short we want to honor you too laugh.  Edarm160 was the second to find on FEBRUARY, thats right FEBRUARY 19th 2017 when they paddled a canoe out to the island! For that brave winter effort we left them a 2nd to find geocoin (TB5V5YT) for them to keep or trade as they choose.
