The rules are simple: every Saturday a football (NFL, not "foosball") geocache will be released somewhere in North County. Anyone finding it between now and the kickoff of Thursday night’s game can choose an offense and a defense from this week’s NFL games. Your score for this week will be the number of points your offense scores minus the amount of points your defense surrenders. The scoring period for week four is from 5:30 PM Sept. 29 through October 3. Every offense and defense chosen must be unique. First to Find has choice of any offense and defense (even from the same team), second to find has second choice, and so on. The cache hiders are also playing, so that person will select fifth each week. Scoring is cumulative and at the end of the season the cacher with the highest score will be crowned North County Gridiron Cacher Supreme. Of course, participation in the contest is optional, so you can still log the cache even if you want to sit on the sidelines.

Updates on the season's scores will be posted with each new cache.

While most football fans remember the barefoot kickers, few realize there have also been barefoot quarterbacks inspired by their placekicking brethren.  The benefits were numerous:  a better feel for the turf, enhanced rhythm, especially when receiving the snap from the center, and not having to fuss with tying shoes.  Zola Budd was an early coach of the barefoot gunslingers, counting Clark Griswold, perhaps the best barefoot QB, among her pupils.  Not a single one of her students ever got a blister!

The hint makes the find pretty easy, so for more of a challenge try finding it without pulling it up.  For even more of a challenge, try hiking up the trail barefoot!  Please snap the lid shut tightly and thanks for playing.
