Geocache Description:

A stiff hike up the windswept Hardy Ridge will take you to Phlox Point at 2,900' elevation where you'll be rewarded with a smiley in the form a good old fashioned ammo can.  With 360 degree views you'll marvel at the smattering of gorge high points around you, the mighty Columbia down below, and local volcanoes Hood, Adams and Rainier.

Phlox Point is named for the low growing wildflower with little white blossoms that you'll find growing on the crest of the ridge near this spot.  You'll find a patch of Phlox a short ways south of gz.

The most commonly used trailhead to hike up Hardy Ridge is located in Beacon Rock State Park at the equestrian trailhead off Kueffler Road.  Be sure to purchase a Washington State Discover Pass if you choose to park there.  This geocache is not located in Beacon Rock State Park, but rather in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, close to the park's western boundary.
