Enjoy a leisurely walk on the Macnamara Nature Trail in the Nopiming Game Preserve in Arnprior. This interpretive trail is a project of the Macnamara Field Naturalists’ Club and follows 19 numbered stops highlighting the natural history of the location. This cache is not far off the trail and should be fairly easy to find.
As trail brochures are not always available at the trailhead, you are invited to download a booklet describing each of the 19 trail stops at http://mfnc.ca/macnamaratrail/ This trail is named after Charles Macnamara (1881-1944), a local naturalist and photographer who successfully lobbied the provincial government in 1920 to have this area designated a Crown Game Preserve. The Macnamara Trail was featured in the spring 2016 edition of “Ottawa Outdoors” magazine. http://mfnc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Ottawa-Outdoors-Spring-2016.pdf All visitors are welcome to enjoy the trails but note that the trails are on land owned by Nylene Canada. Bicycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and dogs are not allowed on the trails. Along with the natural beauty, there may be poison ivy in some areas. Be prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear as well as some bug repellant during the late spring and summer. Above all, enjoy your time outdoors! Please rehide the cache to ensure it's longevity! Our GSP was bouncing around and so hopefully the hint will compensate for any possible miscalculations!
