Miwa Dam is constructed in Mitsumine river of Tenryu river system for flood control, irrigation, hydraulic power generation and is a gravity-type concrete dam of 69.1 meters in height. The lake made by this dam is called the Lake Miwa and is chosen in 100 selections of Japanese dam lakes. The outskirts are maintained as a park. In the right bank of the Lake Miwa in particular, the promenade of cherry blossom trees continues and it becomes a comfortable walk course. When this cherry blossoms is in full glory in spring , you can enjoy it with the cherry bllosome of the park of Takato ancient castle which is the Japanese three biggest famous place of the cherry blossoms. But, at this time, the park of ancient Takato castle is considerably crowded. On the other hand, You may spend slow time because a person is hardly in the Lake Miwa while watching a lakeside cherry blossoms and a beautiful dam lake here. I recommend.

美和ダムは、天竜川水系の三峰川（みぶがわ）に建設された高さ69.1メートルの重力式コンクリートダムで、洪水調節・灌漑・水力発電を目的としています。このダムによって出来た湖は、美和湖と言いダム湖百選に選ばれています。周辺は公園として整備され、特に美和湖の右岸は桜並木の遊歩道が続き、気持ちの良い散策道となっています。春にはこの桜が咲き誇り、桜の日本三大名所である高遠城址公園の桜とセットで楽しむことが出来ます。但し、この時期、高遠城址公園はかなり混雑します。一方、美和湖には殆ど人がいないため、こちらでは湖畔の桜と美しいダム湖を見ながらゆっくりとした時間を過ごすことが出来るでしょう。お勧めです。
