Geocache Description:

Black Rock Forest is a 3,800 acre forest and scientific field station in the Hudson Highlands.  There are over 30 miles of trails and woods roads criss crossing the forest.  The forest is administered by the Black Rock Forest Consortium, a group of public and private educational and research institutions.  It has served as a field station for eduacation and scientific researc for over 80 years.  Several scientific studies are in progress at any given time, and thousands of students visit the forest every year for a variety of educational programs.

The cache is located on a recently built ADA accessible trail.  At the present time the trail ends about a quarter mile from the parking area but there are plans to extend it another quarter mile to the Science Center. There is a nice view at the present end of the trail. Black Rock Forest is only open during daylight hours and is closed to all but hunters during big game season. This cache was placed with the permission of John Brady, Black Rock Forest manager.
