Bamboo-zled!!
The giant panda, native to China, is one of the worlds most lovable bears. Highly recognizable with their black and white fur, they often grow to an average of 2-3 feet tall. There are about 1,600 giant pandas left in the wild today, with several of them in zoos around the United States that are on loan from China. Decreasing in numbers, they are among the endangered species in the world.
Each giant panda lives to an average of 18-20 years in the wild, and 30 in captivity. Jia Jia, the oldest giant panda held in captivity lived to be 38 before passing away October 16, 2016.
While the giant panda will eat birds, rodents and other grasses, its diet is over 99% bamboo!
