This multi cache (with a twist or two) starts at the published coordinates, where you can locate a two-digit number. This can be found within the red rectangle on the blue cycleway sign - the tens make up 'A' and the units 'B'.
Alternatively, if you wish to start from the Southerly parking place, the same number is available from the cycleway sign on the gatepost near the lift bridge at Kirkhouse Green, at this location:
N 53° 36.889 W 001° 03.315
The cache can then be found at:
N53 37.[A+1] [A-1] [A-B], W001 02.[A-1] [A+1] [A+B]
(for example if 'A' and 'B' were both 3, the Northings would be N53 37.420)
This should take you on a reasonable length walk or cycle along the canal, to the site of a former swing bridge, which would presumably have been similar to the one at Sykehouse Lock.
Enjoy the search - you may be lucky, or perhaps frustrated. Either way, good luck!
