< Stone Buddhas of Kono >
Here are variety of religious stone monuments collected and placed, including Koshin-duka (*1), Jizou (*2), Kannon (*3), and so on.
Here is also a drooping cherry tree, which has been said to be famous and entertain tourists on the old Nakasendo Road.
*1 a stone monument based on a folk faith in Japan with the orijins of Chinese Taoism, Buddhism, and Japanese Shinto.
*2 a form of Buddha, a guardian of children as well as tourists on the road.
*3 another form of Buddha, known as Goddess of Mercy.

中津川宿から落合宿までの中山道を歩きましょう。
＜子野石仏群＞
ここには、庚申塚や地蔵、観音像、また特異な文字で「南無阿弥陀仏」と書かれた徳本上人の念仏塔などがたくさんの石仏や石塔があります。また、街道に向かって大きな枝垂れ桜があり、桜の名所として知られており、中山道を歩く旅人の心を和ませたと伝えられています。
