As part of their effort to improve safety and security, Seattle Public Utilities recently undertook a large-scale project to bury or decomission all of the city's open air drinking water reservoirs. A side benefit of this project was hundreds of acres of new park land atop the buried water tanks, including this 20-acre expanse of open space at Westcrest Park.
At each of the three waypoints, answer a question related to the kinetic art that was installed as part of the project.
- At Waypoint 1 (the posted coordinates), let B = the number of blue flying objects.
- At Waypoint 2, let Y = the number of yellow flying objects.
- And finally, at Waypoint 3, let R = the number of red flying objects.
Now take a seat at one of the nearby benches or picnic tables and use your numbers to determine the coordinates for the container. The only math you need is addition and subtraction; no multiplication required.
N 47° 31.(Y)(B)(R-1) W 122° 20.(Y)(B-1)(R+B-1) (15 digit checksum: 52)
The container is a small paint container (like you'd get as part of a craft project) within a quarter-mile of the posted coordinates.
Congratulations to Frisky Biscuits for the FTF!
