In the year of placement, the freak weather pattern of the week has caused chaos and destruction, much like war. And this unfortunately delayed the creation and publication of the cache. We are hoping for a period of peace – meteorologically (although we appreciate all the rain we can get!) and politically.

Armistice Day marked the end of World War I, with the peace document signed at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. However it is not only those who fell in the First World War that are remembered on this day, but all those who have died as a result of war.
In the spring of 1915, shortly after losing a friend in Ypres, a Canadian doctor, Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae was inspired by the sight of poppies growing in battle-scarred fields to write a now famous poem called 'In Flanders Fields'. After the First World War, the poppy was adopted as a symbol of Remembrance.<
