Geocache Description:

This cache is located near the summit of Mt Herbert at a place that is great to stop for a rest and shelter from the storm. Mt Herbert is the highest point on Banks Peninsula at 920 metres high. In Maori Mt Herbert is called Te Ahu Patiki which means shaped like a flounder.

There are several ways to get up here, you can look on the DOC website for more information. Please check the weather before attempting and be prepared for all weather conditions, the track is very exposed.

There are great views here down to Lyttelton and Quail Island, over the port hills to Christchurch and the Canterbury Plains with the Southern Alps in the background and south to Lake Ellesmere.

The cache is a camo'ed eclipse mint tin - you will need to BYOP.
