Geocache Description:

As with all cemetery caches, please do not attempt to find the cache if there is a service in progress and absolutely NO night caching.

Steward Cemetery is in the southeast corner of Jackson county. The earliest burial in the cemetery is Harriet Steward. The land was originally owned by her husband, Byron Steward. Harriet was buried on the land shortly after they homesteaded here. Byron sold the land to a Steward Cemetery Union about 30 years later to serve as a cemetery for area residents. Today, there are approximately 150 people interred in the well maintained country cemetery.
