-Please do NOT search for this cache if there is a service in progress.
-Please do NOT search for this cache on Sunday mornings. There is an active church located at this cemetery.
-Absolutely NO night caching.

Buck's Grove is a small United Methodist church in Grant township, near the western edge of Jackson county. The church and the surrounding cemetery are all that remain of a community that was started by John & Jerry Bottom, with financing provided by Dr. Buck, an Illinois land speculator who never visited the area. The community was established in the late 1870s and they were required to give a name to the community when they attempted to establish a post office. They chose Buck's Grove in honor of their patron. It is a tight knit church community and church services are still conducted in the church building located at the SW corner of the cemetery. As with many country cemeteries, the actual organized cemetery was established around some burials that were already present. The oldest marked burial in the cemetery is Ann Elizabeth Beach. She was buried here in 1859, about twenty years before the church was established.
