Take a stroll across this beautiful 1.6km stretch of golden sand known as King’s Beach (thus named for the royal visitor of 1947!) with the family of human or canine disposition.
Some estimates say that the building of the breakwater changed the dimensions of this beach so vastly, that once upon a time it might have been a strip of sand no wider than 10 to 20 metres. Since the construction of the new harbour, all of the city’s beaches have increased as sand cannot be effectively washed away. In same time, the end of the beach should meet the tip of the breakwater!
Once at GZ take a moment to enjoy the view as you see water washing off the wall and crashing into the waves headed straight for the beach. From here you can get an incredible view of PE’s beachfront, with its combination of mostly low buildings with the odd skyscraper.
