A traditional cache located on recently acquired land owned by us, The National Trust of Guernsey.
This cache is located on National Trust land behind a granite-built former explosives store, known as Magazine No. 79. This magazine was built at the beginning of the last century and leased to Imperial Chemical Industries Limited (ICI) in 1949. ICI was involved in quarrying in the north of the island and needed secure storage for its explosives. It is assumed that ICI gave it the number 79.
This land will add to the neighbouring land at Creve Coeur and Mont Cuet which the States of Guernsey will be handing to the National Trust of Guernsey when its use as a landfill site is finished.
