The Church
This church is unusual in that the village is well inside the county boundary of Devon but the church belongs to the Diocese of Truro.
VIRGINSTOW church (St. Bridget the Virgin) is well sighted on a ridge, commanding far views of Cornwall. Only the font now remains of the 12th century church, which was entirely rebuilt in 1851-2. The nearby farms of Bradaford and Telleslow were Domesday Estates.
The Church of St Bridget's is a major part of the Village centre there being only one road passing through the village. The church contains some nice stained glass windows. The current church build was started 1851 but there are a few artifacts from the much earlier versions going back to the 17th Century. The font is about 12th Century. St Bridget's is part of the Diocese of Truro being one of only two churches in the diocese that are uniquely in the County of Devon and this does cause some "headaches" in Truro from time to time !.
The Cache
The cache is a plastic tube approx 10 cms long by 3 cms in diameter and is located opposite the church.
Please Bring Your Own Pen {BYOP} and ensure that the screw cap is replaced tightly to prevent water ingress.
