The Newman Farm was donated to the District Central Saanich by John and Henry Newman for use and enjoyment as public parkland. Having remained in family ownership and relatively unchanged for 107 years, this property is a rare example of a small, subsistence farm on the Saanich peninsula. This field is a small portion of the original farm. The original farm buildings still stand on the west side of the highway but are currently undergoing a structural stabilization process and are not open to the public.
