Welcome to Wylam …. best laid plans Traditional Cache

Lots of geocaching planning has been done in Wylam over the years, plus it was where we attended our first event. So we thought it time for a tribute cache to the ‘cradle of the railways’ and other ancient relics that abide within the small village…

I’ve always really like the village sign well to the north on the B6528, depicting a steam engine and surrounded by stone. It seems to suggest Wylam is much bigger than the attractive but diminutive reality.

Some plans were laid to get a ‘Village Sign’ series number to place up there. Arrived today to find the sign gone! Demolished. Best laid plans….. so it has to be here instead. Take care on the road, although it is on the footpath side.
