GeoMob on the Swirly Snake: Intercache 🐍 Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Geocaching HQ Admin:
Mob caches were published as an experiment using specific technology that required players to be in the same place and to enter a code at the same time to learn the final coordinates. This was an exception to the guidelines at the time and is not a publishable concept today.

The original site used for this purpose has been removed, and therefore, HQ has decided to archive all active caches originally intended to be solved using this method. Due to privacy laws, we are not seeking an alternative site at this time. We are respectfully requesting that the cache owner please remove the cache container and contents as soon as possible.

Geocache Description:

Update: 1/28/24 The GeoMobcache website has been retired. It was fun while it lasted, but you can still find this cache by "visiting" 4 of our geofriends: ButNowImFound, kilroy18, Jimmy63 & AltyZuma. Each one will get you one piece closer to finding the cache, then use your ABC's to unscramble.
Good luck! 🐍

Please still consider visiting the historic bridge at the posted coords & uploading your photo in memory of all GeoMobs/Intercaches that are no longer with us. RIP MobCache!!

Original cache description: Two is company, three is a crowd, four is a mob. You'll need a mob of 4 with smart phones to be able to get the coordinates for this cache. There is no cache hidden at the posted coordinates, but you will need to start there.

This is a different type of Intercache. You need a mobile phone with the ability to access the internet using a standard browser (excluding Chrome at this time) & at least 3 other friends (a total of 4) with smart phones. It's similar to a flashmob: get people to a specified location at the same time & the coordinates will be revealed.

Posted coordinates are for a serpentine pedestrian bridge over Dodge Street beside Memorial Park. The gathering spot for the "mob" is the center top walkway of the bridge (NOT below on the street, that would prove too dangerous!).

Please preserve the spirit of this Geo-Mob by not disclosing the coordinates of the final location to those who do not meet as a group as intended. Thanks.

How to complete this cache:
1) Go to the posted coordinates

2) Open https://www.geotrailsw.com/mob/ on your smart phone using a web browser other than Chrome. Make sure you have accepted location permissions in the chosen app (or go to settings, app name, permissions & manually turn them on there). Verify that the accuracy displayed is reasonable (hopefully less than 20 feet or so).

3) When prompted with, "Which mob are you attending?" enter the number 2125. This will open a screen that will navigate you to the "geo-mob" coordinates.

4) Once the website verifies you are at the location, the counter bumps up. Get all of your friends to do the same (steps 1-4) & meet you at this location.

5) Get everyone within a 16-foot-radius circle. Squeeze in; you'll have to get all 4 of you in there. Good luck with that.

6) When the counter reaches the required mob size, the coordinates for the cache will pop up. Stay in your tight group formation until the information is recorded, written down, photographed, or memorized. Record this information right away! If anyone leaves the mob area, the page you are looking at may disappear & no longer show you the needed coordinates for the geocache (it takes a minute).

7) Enter those coordinates into your GPS, & go get it. You'll need to enter the coords manually, as there is no associated web app yet.
