This cache has been place to coincide with the setting of my multicache "It's not ALL antique shops!" and is on / close to the route you take for that.
With this addition to the UK Toll Houses series you actually get two for the price of one! The original toll house "The Old Toll House", which is the one closest to the cache location, was built some time in the mid 1700's after the road was turnpiked but before the bridge was built in 1775 which then bypassed it. Clearly this would have made the use of this cottage rather difficult and it was superseded in 1821 by a new toll house was built a couple of hundred yards further up the road. This one is recognisable by the protruding "threepenny bit" type frontage.
You will need to bring your own pen / pencil for this one.
Congratulations to graham&linda on the FTF
All active UK Toll House caches can be found here.
If other geocachers would like to set caches near UK Toll Houses, please get in touch with The Chens first and they will issue a number in the same way as the Church Micro series. They ask that the name is in the form "UK Toll House number - Local name". If you have a system of numbering your own caches, as they do, please put that last.
