While wandering around the Cannons Creek Reserve I happened upon a mysterious totem-like sculpture. There is nothing to indicate why it's there or what it represents. It appears to be quite ornately decorated albeit a little worse for wear.
Some red tiles appear to spell the word "Windley" which suggests it may have been a project by the nearby Windley school.
Additional: The mystery of this totem has been unravelled. See the log entry of huhugrub on 9/12/16 who evidently did some research and shared the findings. I have since found 4 of the 5 pou but only the Windley pou is decorated. If I find the 5th I might archive this cache and make a multicache instead based on the 5 pou.
Getting There
The cache is moderately close the Bedford Street entrance to the reserve although the main entrance on Warspite Avenue is the more pleasant route. Either way the path is pretty easy except for the bit where you need to get off the path at GZ. If you do it at the right place there are some indentations in the bank which serve as steps.
The least "objectionable" route is to start from the main entrance in Cannons Creek (waypoints T2 or T3), make your way to J1 and head up the hill.
The Cache
The cache itself is a small (not micro) camo-coloured can suspended in a tree quite close to the mystery object. It is tethered to the tree by its lid; recommended access is to unscrew the base in situ but you can unhook the whole thing like removing a key from a keyring if you really want to. Just put it back the same way obviously.
At time of placement the cache only contains the log and a pencil There is room for small trackables but please avoid scrunching up the log if they don't want to fit.
