The road between Lambert's Bay and Vredendal has been the subject of much controversy ever since I can remember. To this day, the road remains a gravel road, despite the petitions of many groups urging the respective Cederberg and Matzikama Municipalities to have it tarred. This cache is at a location representing such plights, a silent protest, if you will.
Be sure to take a good look around while you are here. This is the West Coast at its most raw and most beautiful. Look at the old windmill just ahead, and the iconic "plaasdam" next to it.
