Geocache Description:

Micro hide near a historic landmark in Ocean City. Please use stealth. Cache is NOT on hotel property. No need to enter any fenced in areas.

The Henry Hotel, built around 1895, was used by African Americans who were not permitted to stay elsewhere in Ocean City due to segregation laws of the time. The hotel was bought in 1926 by Charles T. and Louisa Henry and has remained under African American ownership to this day. Some famous entertainers who stayed here include Count Basie, Duke Ellington and a young James Brown. Some locals today maintain that the hotel is haunted and have claimed to hear music coming from inside or have seen figures standing in the screened-in porch. The building is currently not open to the public but check out the interpretive sign near the corner of the intersection.

The cache itself is not located on the hotel property. It is located nearby in a publicly accessible space. Please obey all posted parking restrictions and only park in designated parking areas. Could be a very busy area during certain times so please use stealth.

NOTE: As of November 2023, hide has been altered slightly due to muggling. Container is the same, just hidden differently so that it is more concealed. You may have to let your fingers do the finding.
