Geocache Description:

Small Cache. Easy terrain and easy find.

Lewis Wetzel was a frontier hero of the Ohio Valley. The Wetzel family, which Wetzel county is named for, were some of the first residents in the area that is now Marshall County. Lewis Wetzel was known as the Daniel Boone of the Ohio Valley. He protected and defended against the Indian attacks which were extremely common in the area and resulted in countless deaths. The McCreary Cemetery is where Wetzel was laid to rest, with a head stone now dedicated to the history of his efforts to protect the area. To get to the cemetery you will travel out Route 250 from Moundsville Towards Cameron. Once you get to Limestone, McCreary's Ridge will be on your left. Follow the road out past the Palace of Gold and straight ahead you will find the cemetery.
