Texico's postoffice has been in operation since 1902. It is the oldest community in Curry County, New Mexico, being founded after its first settler, Ira Taylor around 1900. Texico was part of the massive XIT Ranch and was known as "Escavado", Spainish for dugout.
When the community was developed in 1902, it acquired the partial names of both states, TEXICO. Farwell, is its sister city just across the state line in Texas.
The Transwestern Pipeline is just north of this cemetery and all are immediately south of the major line of the BNSF RR line.
