The Edmonton Pedway system is a network connecting office buildings, shopping centres, and parkades in downtown Edmonton. It consists of approximately 13 kilometres of year-round climate-controlled underground tunnels and overhead walkways between the second floors of buildings. The main network connects more than 40 buildings and parkades, and three of the five Edmonton LRT stations in the downtown area.
This cache allows you to explore the tunnels and bridges of Downtown Edmonton without having to go outside, at least until the final ;-)
To find this cache, please start at the given coordinates, and using the written directions will lead you to the cache. In the true spirit of being a letterbox hybrid you can either go to the posted final below of follow the written instructions.
This cache hide is wheelchair accessible however following the directions as listed below is not 100% wheelchair accessible. If unable to navigate stairs, some "filling in the blanks" may be required, but I'm sure the downtown regulars know this system like the back of their hand.
1.) Start at the Bay/Enterprise Square LRT Station (103 Street North Entrance).
2.) Take a pass on the cafe and carry on by.
3.) Room 2-900 is the key.
4.) Head towards the guys who do the financial planning.
5.) No need to go to the parkade since your car isn't there.
6.) You didn't bring your gym clothes so no workout today, best to keep on going.
7.) Head across the nice glass bridge into the atrium.
8.) Turn on the direction of the bank starting with "R" and go to E.C.C.M.
9.) One you cross the bridge, turn right and go for a bit.
10.) Cross the pretty glass bridge. If you can see a couple banks right out the window you are probably on the right track!
11.) After crossing the bridge you should come to an elevator dead centre. This isn't the floor you're looking for, so maybe go down one.
12.) Exit the elevator and keep going the way you were going before entering the carriage.
13.) Enter the glassy tunnel and watch for cars!
14.) Keep on going past the miniature solarium until you get to the wooden gateway and hang a left
15.) No trains for you today! Go towards where the cars are parked, under where the books are parked.
16.) Keep going and turn towards the C.T. at the T-intersection
17.) Ahhh! That's the stuff. Makes this whole winter adventure worthwhile.
18.) Go past the waterfall and the elevator towards the colorful dots.
19.) No shows today, hang a left, and head towards the bureaucracy.
20.) At the fountain turn right and head towards the info booth then keep going down the escalator.
21.) During the weekdays there is a ton of places to get a bite to eat, on the weekends not so much.
22.) Keep on going and turn right and pass the soup.
23.) Head on down the stairs. You're now on level green, you want to be on yellow.
24.) Go past the bison, over the bridge, and down the stairs.
25.) You should see some lamp posts and silver rings. You want the 5th one.
