Geocache Description:


Herons Creek has a population 312 and is 30ks SW of Port Macquarie. Herons Creek is a village with an incredible history, from its settlement in 1875 it was one of NSW original timber districts.

New Heritage and Tourist Trails exist to trace the history of the area. Stories are told on interpretive panels located along the trails. This panel tells of the schools history. The school was relocated to this spot in 1896. The site being more central for the students. This historic school was rebuilt where it stands today and was reopened in 1925. If you drive by the school check out the large cow standing on the verandah.

The cache is small with a log book only. BYO pencil
