Geocache Description:

Herons Creek has a population 312 and is 30ks SW of Port Macquarie.
Herons Creek is a village with an incredible history, from its settlement in 1875 it was one of NSW original timber districts.

New Heritage and Tourist Trails exist to trace the history of the area. Stories are told on interpretive panels located along the trails. This panel tells of a major train derailment here in 1963. It also tells of a massive flood that was caused after 2,000mm of rain fell causing major damage to road, rail and bridges.

This is a micro container, containing a log book.
