If the gate is closed, you may park next door in the Oregon State Police Dept. parking lot, I asked to use their parking lot and it is OK. If the gate is open, there is ample parking in the Arboretum.
Mr. Skyrman passed away September 9, 2010 and his property was donated to the City of Central Point with the stipulation that it be used as an arboretum to provide for educational programs for youth around the region and for public enjoyment.
The site is unique in that Mr. Skyrman's father planted a variety of shrubs and every tree species native to Oregon, including the largest "Gray Pine" tree in the state.
The property includes two structures, a log cabin the family built to celebrate the Bicentennial in 1976, and the Skyrman home.
The arboretum is still in a construction mode, but it is a delightful area to visit!
