The Church
There isn't really much at Kentchurch if I'm honest, but there is the fabulous Kentchurch Court - a private historic house in the Monnow Valley in the shadow of Garway Hill, and this church was part of the estate but is now situated on the now disused long driveway from the gatehouse at Grosmont Bridge (Although you reach it by a normal public road that crosses the old driveway).
The church was originally dedicated to the nun saint Cein but the church had to be rebuilt in 1859 after a disasterous fire by the Scudamore family (that own Kentchurch Court) and re-dedicated to St. Mary. It is a rather large church given the population of the immediate area but this is testament to the wealth of the Scudamore family at the time.
