A3 travel bug and geocoin hotel
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This is a geocoin and travel bug hotel! Conveniently placed a short way off the A3 on the beautiful devil’s punch bowl. It is a good place to deposit TBs as from here they can reach London’s airports, Portsmouth, and all of the south coast ferry ports etc. The cache is located on National trust property, please don’t do anything damaging or disrespectful to this outstanding area, littering is a local issue. Mandatory NT disclaimer: “GEOCACHING ON NATIONAL TRUST PROPERTY IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.” Local information: The devil’s punchbowl is a postage stamp sized bit of wilderness, created by the erosion of a couple of streams deep in the bowl. Further down in the bowl there is deep sinking silt and bog around the springs so watch out! Some may find getting to the GZ a tad difficult as it is a little steep, nothing particularly major though. Do watch out for ticks. Up at the carpark (which you may need to pay for) and the top of gibbet hill there is a view to London, particularly good at night. Their may also be smooth snakes in the heather, these are the fourth type of native snake in Britain found only in the new forest and the local heaths. It is Britain’s rarest reptile. (Other UK snakes are the grass snakes, adders, and slow worm (sort of). The cache This is a little down a slope just off the main path into the devil’s punchbowl. It is a large plastic box for swapping TBS hidden behind a large birch tree. If you can please top up the stickoflage.
