Geocache Description:

A New Year's Eve FM - Prairie Bluff Summit will be an opportunity to get out into the fresh air, enjoy the last morning of 2016 and meet up with your buddies at the Summit. The trail to the Event Site is along industry roads with year-round maintenance.

A Bright and Breezy Morning on the Trail


Looking Back Towards the Trail Head


Event Description:

1. When: Saturday, December 31st, 2016 - 11:00 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. at the Prairie Bluff Summit.

2. A New Year's Eve FM - Prairie Bluff Summit will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will last until 11:30 a.m. All cachers will receive a Special Event Attendance Card.

3. A group photo will be taken at 11:25 a.m. on Prairie Bluff Mountain at the Event Coordinates.

4. At 11:30 a.m. we will clean up the site and head back down to the trail head. Be sure to stay with the group on the way down to enjoy the terrific views and caching stories from the trail!

Along the Trail


Checklist: Always try to bring certain things on hikes that go more than a few minutes from the car.

A. Backpack - 20 - 35 litre;

B. Toque, parka, dress in layers;

C. Matches;

D. Spare socks and good winter hiking shoes / boots;

E. Hand and foot warmers;

F. Small First Aid Kit;

G. Water - two litres / person - perhaps hot chocolate;

H. Snacks;

I. Trekking poles and micro spikes;

and J. Head Lamp and extra batteries.
