Fav London Street Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Abigails: Sad to see this one go - but a string of DNFs on a pretty easy cache means it has gone. I no longer work in the area and I'm in the centre of town very infrequently. Therefore, I am going to archive this one to free up space for someone else. Thanks to the 1,440 finders and 34 FPs over its near 6 year life.

Geocache Description:

A simple quick cache an dash in my favourite street in London

I came down to London in 1991 to go to University.  My university was on the Aldwych and my halls of residence were on Fitzroy Street.  Every day I would do the 30 minute walk to and from Uni via this street.   Many years later I ended up working on Fitzroy Street and still pass through it frequently.

Colville Place is a paved street connecting Charlotte Street (one of the major streets for Restaurants in London) and Whitfield Street (which has is own smattering of eateries).   Turning onto Colville Street always is like walking out of London into a totally different environment - it is its own oasis amongst the madness that is central London.

The houses are from 1766 and the residents have arranged a mass of plant pots giving the street a very homely feel.

However, there is something strange about this street.  I have walked through it many a time (too many to remember) but never seen a single person enter of leave a house!  It gives the street an errie feel as if it was an abandoned film set!

I hope you enjoy visiting this little London gem as much as I do.   You are looking for a nano cache.
