A cache located at an interesting and well hidden structure built by the Italian prisoners of war. I could not find much about the history behind this spot, so if you have any additional information, please share.
Approach via the Miaspoort trail and make use of the provided waypoints to guide you for the final stretch. It's an initially steep and difficult climb to the saddle and will take about 2.5 hours to reach the cache. The Italian cross is situated close by offering breathtaking views over the Paarl valley and surrounding mountain ranges. Permits for the Miaspoort trail cost R40pp, or free for WildCard members, and can be obtained at the CapeNature Paarl Office (021 871 1535) or Du Kloof Lodge.
Please do not disturb any of the relics in order to preserve this historic site.
