Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Frederick Puzzler's Corner

This is a monthly event to encourage puzzle solving in the geocaching community, and all are welcome.

I'm dedicating this one to Phos4s for a question he posed at last month's gathering.

January 3rd is Festival of Sleep Day.  No, you are not dreaming, but perhaps you should be.  Today is an opportunity to sleep in, snooze, doze, nap, catch 40 winks, or saw logs.  The holidays are over, it's cold, and time to hibernate.  Whether it's all day, a full 8 hours, or just a power nap, enjoy the day sleeping.  Cozy up in bed, on the couch, or any other comfortable place.  Don't forget your favorite blanket.  Sleeping at work is not recommended (unless you're a mattress tester).  But you may want to wake up in time to meet your friends here.

Warning: The Surgeon General has determined that sleeping is good for your health.

So, if you have ever come across a "puzzle" that requires you to lose sleep (or work, if you're on the night shift), i.e. something using unpredictable screen refreshing, you are not alone.  At our last meeting, Phos4s was asking if anyone knows of a way to trick these things, so he doesn't have to loose sleep or loose track by falling asleep at an inappropriate time and miss parts of the puzzle.  I myself have stayed up until past the crack of dawn to gather all the info presented during the long dark hours, and I wasn't the friendliest person the next day, not to mention the extreme lack of concentration capabilities!  If you have any tricks, tips or procedures you may want to share, we'll welcome your knowledge.  I myself am very interested in learning more about this process.

Now, for the boiler plate stuff.

If you've got a puzzle or mystery cache that's currently got you stumped and you'd like to pick some brains, this event is for you!  Zombies are not welcome here though, so please leave your pets at home.  Each month we have a different focus, which can range from a short tutorial on some aspect of puzzle solving, to small group solving, to the whole clowder or covey working on a large collaboration.  Sometimes it's a purely social get-together.  You don't have to work on puzzles to enjoy this.  But if you want to, you'll have plenty of others willing to dig in with you, or maybe find that someone has already solved a similar puzzle or seen the technique in use.  We continue to see successes at each of these events, and lots of smiles at the end of the evening.

This event is open to all cachers, no matter what your statistics say or whether you even like puzzles.

For the puzzle junkies, bring your puzzle paraphenalia - cache listings, laptop or tablet (Wi-Fi is available), theories, worksheets, (sp)eye glasses, scratch paper (don’t forget your writing instrument) - you never know who (or what) will show up, and what kind of help you might encounter.  Maybe you’ve recently cracked a tough one and want to see the wheels spinning while others tackle it - that can be loads of fun!  If you have a topic you'd like to learn more about, or have a specific puzzle you'd like to have the group focus on, feel free to make note of it in your logs.
