Geocache Description:

Welcome to Parish Wood. It is a small park which sits next to the Bexley Borough boundary with the London Borough of Greenwich. It is surrounded by residential housing in both London Boroughs and provides a valuable outdoor resource for local people who have few other accessible open spaces or wildlife.

In 2010/11 The London Borough of Bexley, working with local people, was successful in securing a number of grants from the Mayor of London and the National Lottery to transform this park, by installing play features, wildlife habitats and paths.

The name of this park refers to the old Parish Boundary which follows the same line as the boundary between Bexley and Greenwich Boroughs today. This park and the surrounding area were once all wet woodland and this is one of the last remaining sections. The site is still often very wet and that is why there are many water loving trees growing there, such as Crack Willows and Alder.

This site has a challenging playground designed for older children which includes a ball court, as well as a grassed recreation area with picnic tables, wildlife habitats and a footpath route suitable for dog-walking. The River Shuttle flows through the south of this park from its source in Avery Hill Park, through Blackfen and Sidcup to join the River Cray in Bexley. You can walk the route of the river (about 5.5 miles) by following the sign posted River Shuttle Walk.

The given co-ords should take you to the above yellow dog. However, it's the other animal on the ground nearby it, and the other 7 animals along the path until you get to the next yellow dog, that are the subject of the first part of this multi cache. A question about each one in turn and a couple about all of them (not the dogs).
