Geocache Description:

This is not an Earthcache, but it is very near a collection of geologic crystals and treasures that will inspire your interest in geology.  The cache is behind the buildings and will not be as interesting as what is inside the buildings, but there is some container mischief involved.

Please be careful on the terrain, as while it looks easy, it has uneven footing in the summer and can be slippery on a slope in the winter.

Geodes begin as bubbles in volcanic rock or as animal burrows, tree roots or mud balls in sedimentary rock. Over a long time (millions of years) the outer shell of the spherical shape hardens, and water containing silica
precipitation forms on the inner walls of the hollow cavity within the geode.

Whole geode.

Magic inside geode.

Opening a geode is always exciting because you never know what is inside, and no one has ever seen what is inside that geode that is probably millions of years old.
