Geocache Description:

This is UGCT's first Cache Hide. A pencil is supplied BUT, be a good Scout and Bring your own pen or pencil, Just in case. Note: You can use the supplied pencil to help roll the log sheet up, prior to placing it back in the cache container. Roll it up and place it in the cap end first then slide it into the container. Please take a photo of the area and post it with your log. It will be interesting to watch the growth and changes that take place over time. We hope you enjoy.

The Jacana Wetlands are designed to be a natural filter of stormwater run off, and the largest of its kind in North West Melbourne, The endangered Growling Frog is found here. Back in 2002 I observed the transformation of the area. With the creation of several ponds, the planting of thousands of water friendly plants, and native trees, This place has thrived and survived through drought and flood, many birds now rely on this area. The Red Browed Finch is a frequently observed bird here. Take time to read the Information Sign at GZ and enjoy the views.

 

The cache is located on the Moonee Ponds Creek Bike Path, and is only a short distance from near by street parking, Wheelchair access as well.
