Geocache Description:

You are searching daylight hours only in Nags Head Woods Ecological Preserve for a dreaded Micro in the forest. BYOP for this LOG ONLY hunt. No bushwhacking needed so leave your machete, hatchet, brush hog and axe at home. Retrieval tool might be handy for pulling the log out.

Some areas are closed
to hiking and Geocaching
during hunting season.

Please remember to sign the Guest Register at the Main Parking Lot Visitor Center before or after you take a walk or drive along Old Nags Head Woods Road, also known as Old Soundside Road.

You are looking for a dreaded tiny Micro Bison Tube a short trek off the beaten path in a very large forest just to sign a log. There are other ways to get to the cache but if you are traveling along Old Nags Head Woods Road this one should be just a short trek in the woods. You may want to take a minute to determine the best route to it.

You are sure to enjoy nature as you look for this very small container hidden on the east side of the road. The treasure you seek is within reach of all but the smallest of elfs. The walk along this dirt/sandy road should be an easy stroll with some minor elevation changes that could take you past a few other caches along the way. You could drive it but keep in mind that the road is used frequently and parking as well as passing other vehicles can be a problem at times even for motorcycles. Parking coordinates are provided close to the cache although it is not an official parking place so it may in fact not be available.

The 1,092-acre Nags Head Woods Ecological Preserve is a maritime forest located at the end of Ocean Acres Drive in Kill Devil Hills and was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1974. The Preserve is open daily from dawn to dusk every day with several hiking trails open for foot traffic only. Be aware that the trees often cause considerable bounce. Cache is hidden right by the trail so no need to wander about creating any geo-trails. One set of parking coordinates will take you to the Visitors Center where guests are asked to sign in.

Permission granted for this placement in compliance with Nags Head Wood guidelines. Log only, BYOP.

Congratulations to the frigid team of Bikalot, episcodad, Lacey1961 & LittleJoeLive who after spending all day conquering the Duck-Walk Geo-Art series found this cache @ 3:10 pm on a cold 25 degree Friday afternoon just six hours and three minutes after it was published.
