A crossing point along the Old Historic "Salt Road". This is an older bridge but still in use.
The old "Salt Road" started near the Japan Sea coast town of Itoigawa. It leads South to the larger city of Matsumoto. It was a long and dangerous route traveled on by foot and horse in the old days. This is just one point along this route where you can see how difficult the terrain is that the people had to travel!
