WATERSHED 2
At the GZ you will find yourself near the Ballarat Road Service Basin. The slightly larger cousin to the Lincoln Service Basin to the East of Creswick.
Constructed in 1980 this water storage site holds 2.7 Million Liters of water in a covered basin that has a depth of 4 meters. Covered water storages like this are often used where contamination of water by sources like leaves, dust, bird droppings is more likely to occur. Keeping the water covered also reduces or eliminates the occurrence of algae blooms which add a lot of cost to treating water to make it suitable for drinking. This is mainly due to the removal of sunlight which limits the algae's ability to photosynthesize.
Access to the GZ is easily accessable either from Fading Views (GC6931Y) on the Old Creswick Rd or by accessing the access road that begins near the entrance of the nearby Golf Club.
