Geocache Description:

!Te was an old man and as he was nearing the age to go to the great hut in the sky. He wanted to do one last things so that no one would forget about him. So !Te wondered around pondering as to what last mighty act he can do so that he will never be forgotten.

!Te thought that one way was to act as a historian by telling others about their history, about the animals and about the gods, but !Te realised that for a while they will remember him but then as life continues to evolve they would soon forget his stories and have new stories.

One evening after partaking in a ritual !Te had a dream. In his dream he saw strange pictures of animals, people, gods and shamans in red, yellow, black and white. When !Te awoke the next day he knew exactly what he needed to do.

So !Te went out to the river bed looking for particular colour rocks, once he gathered enough he then started to pound these rocks into dust. The other clansman’s were intrigued with what !Te was up to as they thought he was losing his senses. Once !Te had this fine dust he waited for the next feast so that he could gather fat of the antelope. A few nights later they had a feast as they were celebrating the recent rains. So !Te kept some of the fat and went away. !Te mixed the fat with the powder that he made. !Te then went to a cave removed the bits of clothes he had on and using the tail of  an antelope proceeded to draw what he saw.

When !Te realised that this was working he started to record the history of his clan. And so whenever and wherever he could he would draw on the rocks for his clan to see their history in the nude. Eventually !Te clansmen started to assist him and together they all drew on the cave walls whilst in the nude. Today these painting tell the story of the Khoisan.
