Geocache Description:

Magnetic key box.  It isn't difficult to find but there is a potential for muggles, particularly on weekends or during one of the occassional ceremonies held on the grounds.  Remember this is a Veteran Memorial, please behave respectful.

Captain Walter J. Adams (1930 - 2011), was a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War.  During a combat mission his plane was hit by enemy fire and the aircraft was severely damaged.  Miraculously he was able to retreat from the fight and get the aircraft on the ground in friendly territory, (see uploaded photo).  Following his military service Captain Adams became a civilian passenger pilot for American Airlines until his retirement in 1989.  His marker is located just 162 feet north at:  N 35 56.670  W 114 50.899.  Feel free to go by and present Captain Adams a salute for his service to our country.
