If one drives on Malibongwe Drive, right where Rabie Street intersects, one would never know that behind the precast wall is a forgotten cemetery, Fontainebleau Cemetery, home to 61 graves of people who lived in the developing Randburg area in the early 1900's.
Until 2010, there wasn't a gate to access the grave site and no municipal maintenance was done inside. This 100-year-old piece of Randburg's history had fallen into a state of total decay.
City of Joburg (CoJ) had not been maintaining this cemetery until it was exposed in September 2010 after a car drove into the surrounding wall, exposing what was on the other side.
This cemetery cannot be moved as it is older than 60 years and therefore protected by the National Heritage Resources Act. Unfortunately, it is not so 'protected' - the headstones are damaged, the veld grass cut not so often and vagrants leave rubble spread around.
One cannot enter the cemetery at the gate on Malibongwe Drive - it is locked, but access is possibly gained by vagrants at times in the corner of the cemetery closest to GZ. Please rather do not to enter the grave site for your own safety, as it is unknown to the CO whether vagrants live inside the walled area at any time. If you choose to do so, please be careful and note that you do so at own risk.

The cache is located just outside of the forgotten Fontainebleau cemetery at the intersection of Malibongwe Drive and Rabie Street in Randburg. I have placed the cache outside as it may not be safe to enter the cemetery at all times. I have also chosen to put it out of sight of the establishment across the road where many day workers could see what you are up to.. the cache blends in with its environment, please be sure to replace it at the exact place to keep it inconspicuous (and dry from any rain).
I have provided parking coordinates as a guideline. Malibongwe Drive is very busy most of the day and stopping/parking on this road is not advisable. Please note that the area around the parking coordinates and GZ are also used as a drop-off/pick-up place for children going to the nearby high school. It may be challenging to find the cache during mornings on weekdays just before school starts and afternoons when school comes out.
